With the help from our friends at PUSH Buffalo, the 100% campaign is shining a light on three everyday heroes who are at the forefront of our transition to 100% clean energy. Check out what happened when we visited Buffalo to surprise a youth mentor, business leader, and student advocate with billboards in their honor.
Being open, welcoming, and respectful to everyone around you can go a long way. Just ask Aweso Salim, Program Manager of the Grant Street Neighborhood Center. Described by his peers as a “role model and and big brother to so many people,” Aweso creates a safe and productive community space with resources and programs that respond to community needs for youth.
The largest beer distributor in Buffalo may seem like an unassuming champion on sustainability and social justice, but Paul Vukelic is showing it’s possible and already happening. As President/CEO of Try-It Distributing, Paul uses his position of influence to create jobs and opportunity for others.
A daughter of an immigrant family from Kenya, Khadijah Hussein led her school’s health and wellness program to bring better foods to their cafeteria, winning her the “Student of the Year” award. When asked what inspires her to be 100%: “Because someone made a change in my world, I can make a change in someone else’s.”
Aweso, Paul, and Khadijah are three people giving their 100% to generate new possibilities for their city. Thanks again to PUSH Buffalo for introducing us to these amazing champions and their gifts.
